Professor On Shun Pak, who joined SCU in 2014, has been awarded the Sustained Excellence in Scholarship Award for his widely recognized contributions to microscale fluid mechanics, low-Reynolds-number hydrodynamics, and locomotion in complex fluids. Professor Pak has published nearly 70 peer-reviewed journal articles with over 4,700 citations, consistently appearing in top-tier fluid mechanics venues like the Journal of Fluid Mechanics and Physical Review Fluids, as well as high-impact interdisciplinary journals including Nature Biotechnology, Science Robotics, PNAS, and Physical Review Letters. Sustaining an extraordinary level of research excellence and securing competitive external funding from the NSF and ACS, he embodies the teacher–scholar model by actively involving SCU undergraduate and graduate students as co-authors and collaborating across engineering and science disciplines in the Sobrato Campus for Discovery and Innovation. Beyond his own research program, Professor Pak advances research excellence across the university through his leadership as Faculty Associate in Faculty Development and service on the University Research Committee.
